Community Features Plugins

Community Features plugins offer useful functionality for the entire community, but may be more relevant for some communities than others, so they are offered as part of the CBOX OpenLab package but are not activated by default during initial installation.  They can always be activated or deactivated later as described in the Community Features Plugins section under Configuring CBOX OpenLab.

Reply By Email

The Reply By Email plugin lets members reply to group forum posts from the comfort of their inboxes. Rather than logging into the site and going to the group forum page, members can post forum topics and respond to them from their email client.

Braille

The Braille plugin provides a number of Braille-related services to BuddyPress tools, WordPress websites, and the Anthologize WordPress plugin.  The plugin works in two ways:

  1. As a Community Features plugin, it adds a “Braille” toggle to each discussion thread item, enabling members to read discussion content in SimBraille, a visual representation of Braille text.  This functionality is enabled by activating the plugin in Dashboard > CBOX OpenLab > Community Features.
  2. It also adds Braille functionality to member sites, in posts, pages, and the Anthologize plugin.  For these features, the plugin should be activated on each individual member site where it will be used, by going to Dashboard > Plugins, and activating the Braille plugin. After activating the plugin, users will need to change the plugin settings, by going to Dashboard > Settings > Braille Plugin and checking the box next to the first and last options, “Use remote LibLouis service” and “Translate BRL to SimBraille for display.”  Once this is done, follow instructions on the plugin support page.
