The original of the two mutually exclusive packages that comprise Commons In A Box, CBOX Classic offers a unique suite of features designed to give users of all skill levels the ability to create vibrant online communities. Essentially a WordPress plugin, its intuitive, out-of-the-box set-up tool guides site administrators through each step of installation. Its powerful theme, developed for Commons In A Box in collaboration with PressCrew and their Infinity Theming Engine, lets users fully customize their sites. The plugins it manages are totally configurable from the CBOX Classic > Plugins page, which controls updates and compatibility issues.
Modelled after the CUNY Academic Commons, CBOX Classic is designed for communities of all kinds. It has been installed by more than 300 groups and organizations worldwide, who use it to create social networks where members can collaborate on projects, publish research, and create repositories of knowledge.
