Ok, so it sounds like you are definately looking at the cbox install using the same database etc of users as the main existing site.

I think the CBox developers will be the best to advise on this, as there may be known conflicts with plugins etc, between the 2 installs.

Do you need the 2 sites to interlink beyond hyperlinks? Ie same memberships etc.

If not, why not just install a new multisite in a subdomain or folder –

http://www.mylandingpage.com  – existing site – single wordpress site

http://www.mylandingpage.com/community or http://www.community.mylandingpage.com – new cbox install with multisite

Why not use another wordpress wiki theme or plugin  on another sub-site as part of a multisite install, then they can be logged into it seamlessly once logged into the Cbox side ..?

Yea, all of that is beyond me !  – But I’ll have some of it when you find out !  – Hence if solutions are posted on here , it would be well handy, especially if it is common issues…..

I was also  wondering whether any of the WPMU stuff would fit in as well, as I have a developer account there, so it’s all free to use.

Do you have a bullet point list of what help it is you need, that you could post on here?

then folks would know whether they can help at that level, or they could maybe direct you to online help/resourcees.

I’ve taught myself wordpress mainly by googling, trying, you-tubing, trying again, reading tons of blogs, and just basically giving things a go – it is a great platform to play with; I’d previously used Joomla, and found it more clunky – especially for self-taught fumblers like myself !

I’m learning buddypress now using cbox – here http://naturalinfo.co.uk/  my challenge at the moment is getting the forums and funky groups and group blogging set up so that it looks decent.

I’m working on this project with a friend, who is a total novice at wordpress, but he will be writing most of the content, but he is learning wordpress at the same time !

I’ll help where I can, but i think there may be others on here more skilled, as I keep asking questions anyway   LOL

Ok, I seem to have fixed it and managed to update –  I deactivated  all plugins – including cbox, then updated wordpress as the Main Network Site, then updated all the network sites via the option button, then re-activated Cbox and plugins  – all seems Ok, but now it has a message about forum conflict – will open another support topic on this ….

Yes, I get this as well, on immediate notifications – I thought it may just have been me getting some settings wrong, or my email forwardings etc

I’ve also found some more problems what seem simple, but I can’t seem to get my head around !

This is pretty much the first time I’ve used buddypress, so I may just be missing a couple of settings

The links in the menu bar for register and discussion forums just go to the home page – these pages were created by the buddypress in the main Network setup – I am running a Multisite

How do I get the forums etc to appear in the discussion forums page?  Is there a shortcode for this?
