I’ve just updated to new WordPress and to new Cbox theme – and want to set up forums – I got this message in the cbox  dashboard

We see you’re running BuddyPress’ bundled forums. Commons In A Box comes with bbPress 2.2, an upgraded and improved forum tool.

However, we don’t recommend running BP’s bundled forums alongside bbPress 2.2. Click here to learn more about your options.

So, now I’m confused where I set up the forums – I am running Buddypress on a Network, with just the one site at the moment http://naturalinfo.co.uk/ In the Network Admin Buddypress Setup there are 2 options to set up group forums and sitewide.   but the info here seems to point to not using these and using the bbpress install – https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/buddypress-vs-bbpress-forums         – this comes with cbox apparently

So, is there a step by step guide for how to do this?  – Is this what these forums here do?

    any pointers welcome

Hi Mark,  I am not a pro at this but check to see if you have Settings>BuddyPress>Discussion_Forums checked.  This raises a conflict with bbpress forums.  Quoting from Ray:

…  BuddyPress component is going to be retired in the upcoming version of BuddyPress. The bbPress plugin will be used to power the forums in BuddyPress going forward

    Hi Mark,

In the forums guide that we link to in the red notice, there is a link under “Approach 1”, which shows you how to migrate your forums to the bbPress plugin.

    That link is:
    http://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/migrating-from-old-forums-to-bbpress-2/

Did you follow the steps in that tutorial?

Also, let me know if the forums guide did not make that clear and we will edit the copy to address that.
