Hi, me and the team of people I work with are putting together a site using the Commons in a Box theme, the site we are building is a sharing/forum type site for school pupils to share information about Green/Environmental issues.

For this type of site we need some tough security on each page and  have already set most pages to private. We are currently developing this site online and  are already having trouble with robots signing up and adding spam updates to their profiles. We need to add in a captcha plugin to stop robots signing up and spamming our site.

Is there a secure captcha plug-in that is recommended and that has been used with the CBOX theme?

We are also after a terms and conditions agreement type plugin that can be added to our user signup as well, are there any recommended plugins for this as well?

    Thanks,
    Yestin

yes, +1 for this please, as we are now getting some spam sign ups – or is there another way to stop spammers registering?

Any BuddyPress captcha plugin should work with CBOX.

Let us know if it doesn’t and we’ll look into it. I might look into adding a reCAPTHA plugin if there isn’t a suitable one out there.

I’m using http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wangguard/ and http://areyouahuman.com/ and have not had a single spam signup since going live in December.

Hi, I installed Wangguard, and it messed up the admin/dashboard at activation… how can I solve this? Help! Did I do anything wrong?

That’s the URL where I got after activating:

It also seems I can’t get access to the private messages I sent… Unless I didn’t look in the right place…

Helene – We have disabled private messages on this site. If you need to contact someone, mention them publicly.

Ray, what dose “We have disabled private messages on this site.’ mean? you mean on our Commonsabundance.net site? I was talking of our site of course, not this commons in a box site…
