Thanks @haystack and @iurie. This a step in the right direction. So with that code we can have our users automatically added to a General group, that’s great.
But as you stated Iurie — the real question now is then how would we show all site activities in one group? A lot of the most valuable info that is coming off the activity stream is related to posts in the forum and newly added resource documents (coming from a custom plugin we’ve built similar to BP Docs) — the things that are outside of any group.
And yes, I agree that most users will not appreciate getting hit with all this info from the whole site, but at the stage the site is currently in it does actually make sense for everyone to know what’s happening on a site wide level.
Any additional thoughts?

October 6, 2014 at 3:20 pm #5152Stephen GreenbergParticipantHi Ray, thanks for responding. I’m not sure if it’s a javascript error, but I can tell you adding slides or featured posts simply doesn’t work, there is something messing it up. If I had to guess I’d say it somehow has to do with the images, since the featured images on both the slide and feature post are acting very strange.
I tried all of your suggestions and unfortunately they didn’t work. I’ve done several changes in the cbox theme options and the overwhelming majority of them work just fine, but the slider is still not working. Here are the errors that are still happening:
If I set slider as featured post, it won’t recognize the post and add it into the slider even though the right category is set both on the post and in the cbox slider settings. When I create a post, The CBOX slider settings pop up when I check off the category “Featured Post” — Yet on the homepage it still says I haven’t added any posts.
So then I switched to the other slider setting — the Featured Slide option. I created slides, but when I try to set a featured image it simply won’t take. I published one anyway and on the homepage it still says I have to add a featured slide (same problem as with the featured posts).
Let me know if you need clarification I’d be happy to give you as much info as I can. Thanks!

The rationale was that since we modified some of the theme files, I would have to copy them over from our staging site to the live site.
Seems like everything else is working perfectly, except the slider.
I could reinstall the theme, but it would basically be starting from scratch again. Since this is for a paying client my ideal situation would be just fixing the slider at this point, since I’ve redone everything else from the staging site at this point, this is the last step.
Thanks again for being so helpful, Scott!
September 30, 2014 at 8:38 am #5138Stephen GreenbergParticipantThanks so much for letting the team know about the disable issue. As for my second issue, we’ve resolved it, so no worries.
September 29, 2014 at 10:11 am #5137Stephen GreenbergParticipantHey Scott — Thanks for the reply. At that point we had already fixed it with custom css. Maybe it was plugin conflict, could be that we switched templates and had done some custom work, maybe somehow there were issues in the switchover.
The issue occurred on multiple items in the activity stream, but seemed to be directly related to whether it was a reply to something. If it had that reply indented type of formatting, it would push up the first line so it would be underneath the entry above.
Anyway we are on somewhat of a deadline to get the new CBOX version of the site up, so I’m not sure I’ll have enough time to go back and try to troubleshoot the issue. We do have some activity stream plugins installed (activity stream plus and the wp dev activity stream widget plugin), maybe there is a conflict with one of those.
September 26, 2014 at 4:16 pm #5131Stephen GreenbergParticipantFound a solution using custom css. But maybe still worth bringing to your attention, Scott. Not sure if this is a common issue or just happened to us for some reason.
September 26, 2014 at 9:49 am #5127Stephen GreenbergParticipantThanks so much for that info. I didn’t realize you could disable the sidebar in the sidebar sizing options.
Unfortunately it looks as though when I select full width theme on certain pages, such as the members directory, it just leaves a narrow white space where the sidebar used to live and then pushes the sidebar down all the way to the bottom of the page, underneath the content. This is with the sidebar disabled. Attached is a screenshot.
This doesn’t seem to happen on every full width page, just on some of the more complex buddypress pages.
My other issue is that since we have custom-made templates for some of our custom post type listing and search pages, it doesn’t seem to play nice with how cbox is laid out. Since we have to select our custom template from the template drop down, we can’t use the option full width.
Any thoughts? Thanks so much for your help! We love cbox.
