We are in the process of moving CBOX from our staging site to our live site and for the most part everything is going smoothly — except for the slider. I’ve tried setting it to both Featured Posts and Featured Content, but both seem to result in the slider telling me I still haven’t added any slides/posts.  It also seems as though I cannot upload anything into the Featured Image on the slide option, and for the featured post option the featured image box doesn’t even show up.

I’m at a loss as to what to do, it seems like there is a glitch of some sort. Any ideas on how to fix it?  I copied over the cbox-theme folder —  maybe aspects of the slider are controlled in files I didn’t transfer over? Thank you!

Hi Stephen  @stevedtj – It does sounds like you are missing some files someplace.  Is it possible to reintall the theme to see if that fixes things?  I am pinging @r_a_y to see if he has some thoughts on how to fix this.

It sounds like you copied the theme folder over, rather than installing it from the repository, to avoid losing all your settings?

Hi @r-a-y – (Typed your handle wrong) Can you take a look at this one?

Actually what I did was install cbox on the live site, activated it to ensure everything was working, and then copied over all the theme files from our staging site. The rationale was that since we modified some of the theme files, I would have to copy them over from our staging site to the live site.

Seems like everything else is working perfectly, except the slider.

I could reinstall the theme, but it would basically be starting from scratch again. Since this is for a paying client my ideal situation would be just fixing the slider at this point, since I’ve redone everything else from the staging site at this point, this is the last step.

Thanks again for being so helpful, Scott!

Not sure what is wrong based on your description. However, it does sound like a problem when you migrated your site over.

What is the problem exactly? Is it a javascript error or are slides not showing up?

    Try the following things:
    * Try refreshing the CSS / JS by saving any option on the “Appearance > CBOX Theme Options” page.
    * If it says you are missing slides, then add a slide. If you are using the posts category option for the slider, then create a post under that category. If you are using the “Site Features” option for the slider, then add a slide via “Featured Slider > Add Slide”.
    * Regarding the “Featured Image” box on the “Featured Slider > Add Slide” page, click on the “Screen Options” tab and select “Slide Image”.

Hi Ray, thanks for responding. I’m not sure if it’s a javascript error, but I can tell you adding slides or featured posts simply doesn’t work, there is something messing it up. If I had to guess I’d say it somehow has to do with the images, since the featured images on both the slide and feature post are acting very strange.

I tried all of your suggestions and unfortunately they didn’t work. I’ve done several changes in the cbox theme options and the overwhelming majority of them work just fine, but the slider is still not working. Here are the errors that are still happening:

If I set slider as featured post, it won’t recognize the post and add it into the slider even though the right category is set both on the post and in the cbox slider settings. When I create a post, The CBOX slider settings pop up when I check off the category “Featured Post” — Yet on the homepage it still says I haven’t added any posts.

So then I switched to the other slider setting — the Featured Slide option. I created slides, but when I try to set a featured image it simply won’t take. I published one anyway and on the homepage it still says I have to add a featured slide (same problem as with the featured posts).

Let me know if you need clarification I’d be happy to give you as much info as I can. Thanks!

    Hi Stephen,

I took a look at your site and there are two issues. One specific to your site and the other specific to the CBOX Theme.

For the CBOX Theme, if the slide in question does not have a “Featured Image” attached to it, then the slider will show a “No slides added yet” caption. This is incorrect because if a slide does have a caption, we should show that instead. I’ll add this to our issues list.

Because your slides did not have a featured image attached, this led to the “No slides added yet” caption on the homepage. The issue on your site is the “Featured Image” functionality does not seem to work properly. I spent a bit of time trying to debug this, but could not find the root of the problem. As an alternative, I added the “Drag and Drop Featured Image” plugin to your site as a workaround. After attaching some sample images to the “Featured Post” blog posts, the slider now works correctly.

About the slide image dimensions, please read the “Slider Settings and Best Practices” section on this page:

Hey Ray, thanks so much. This seems to have worked, I’m repopulating the slide show now.
