Actually, never mind. It turned out to be a 36 GB debug file (!), which we were able to delete.

Can anyone point me towards some quick and easy ways to manage (i.e., cut down on) storage for a multi-site installation? Our hosting company has informed us that we’re over our limit, and as a (very) part-time WP admin, I’m a little out of my depth here.
I can see that our main site is taking up 41.9 GB of space, while the staging and dev…[Read more]

Hi Ray,
Even though my wildcard subdomain *, was set up correctly in my Bluehost cPanel dashboard, the root cause of my subsites’ creation problem was my SSL Certificate not being the right type of certificate for my wildcard subdomain.
To properly set up a subdomain-type Wordpress Multisite that uses a wildcard subdomain and only a single…[Read more]

Hi Steven,
It sounds like you might need to reconfigure wildcard subdomains on Bluehost. Check out the “Setting up Wildcard Subdomains” section of this article: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-and-setup-wordpress-multisite-network/#wildcard
Can you verify that you have set up wildcard subdomains on your Bluehost cPanel…[Read more]

My CBOX multisite at Bluehost was working fine in Nov 2019, but stopped working because I forgot to pay the hosting fee because I was too busy doing other things. After paying the fee in Jan 2020, I was able to see the main site and its dashboard but not the subsites. So I tried restoring the entire multisite using UpdraftPlus, but it still h…[Read more]

In either snippet, make sure to set margin-left: 0px;

Hi Greg – when you log in to your site, your should see the “Customize” option on the top toolbar. If you don’t see it there, go to Appearance>>Customize on your dashboard.
In Customize, the last option is “Custom CSS.” Here you can override the CSS settings on your site.
Try adding either of the snippets that I provided above.

Hey Scott…thanks for getting back to me. I’m not a web techie. Could you tell me which CSS file I should be looking for? I’ve checked the CSS both in the main CBox and I’m not seeing the lines you mentioned. Really appreciate your help. Cheers, Greg

Hi Greg – Sorry for the late response. For your header image issue, the image is spilling over into the left background. I think that is why it is not minimizing correctly on mobile devices. I see this CSS:
div#icext-16f6e2e3 a, h1#icext-16f6e2e3 a {
top: 15px;
width: 512px;
height: 92px;
position: absolute;
left: 50%;
margin-left: -256px;
}If…[Read more]

My website http://www.planetearthlings.org looks good on mobile…EXCEPT…the header image is big to the point that it hangs out and creates a big background area going down each page. It is also possible to swipe left/right and it bounces around sideways instead of just scrolling up and down. Any suggestions on how I fix this? Thanks!

Hi Evan,
We do not provide these types of policies with CBOX because the types of sites using CBOX can vary, but it’s a good question to ask.
WordPress ships with a default privacy policy template. You could probably start with that: https://wordpress.org/support/article/settings-privacy-screen/#using-privacy-settings-tool

Hey everyone!
I am wondering if there are any open source, free licensed starting points for creating Terms of Service, Content Policy (Guidelines for Participation) and Privacy Policies that are relevant to the sorts of services and community engagements that a CBOX website provides?
Thank you so much!

You would have to use a code snippet to restrict the sitewide wiki page to logged-in members only.
The following would work in your theme’s functions.php or in wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php:
add_action( 'template_redirect', function() {

Is it possible to make the site-level wiki accessible only by logged-in members? I am using a plugin that can make certain BuddyPress components and WordPress pages private, but it does not seem to work for /wiki/ for some reason.

Hi Scott,
Are you sure the MLA requires such an older version of BuddyPress? BP 4.2 was released in December 2018.
If that is the case, CBOX 1.1.1 is the release where we bumped compatibility to BuddyPress 4.2. The plugin versions for CBOX 1.1.1 can be found in the plugin manifest…[Read more]
