    Hi there.

Pretty fresh new on Commons, great great tool.

Here’s my problem : my first commons testing website had a nice “group menu” on the left of every group (see joined, good-one.png file).
I’ve made a new install, and this time, no “group menu” appears, and I’m enable to find out how I managed, on the firt one, to activated that “group menu”

    Any help very welcome.

    Best regards.

    D.

Hi Daniel, this is set in Appearance/Widgets. In the group sidebar add the Buddypress Groups: Groups widget. See attach partial screen capture.

    Hi Daniel,

The group sidebar menu (About, Forum, etc) only shows up when you are on a single group page.

To be sure you are viewing a single group page, navigate to the Groups Directory by clicking on the “Groups” link in the top nav bar (or via example.com/groups) and then click on a group in that directory.

    Hi Ray and Troy.
    Thanks for your answer.
Well, I’ve put the Buddypress Groups: Groups widget in it’s right place but I still don’t have the group sidebar menu (About, Forum, etc) on a single group page.

I got a group directory (that is coming I guess from the Buddypress Groups: Groups widget) but no group sidebar menu at all.

    🙁

Hi Daniel, my apologies, I was moving quickly and gave you faulty advice. Ray’s advice is the correct advice, that menu appears when you are in a single group.

Also, Ray is associated with CBox and is a much more authoritative source of advice, while I’m a user puzzling through things myself.

In the future I’ll try and temper my zeal to contribute back with a greater accuracy of advice.

    Cheers,

    t

    Hi Troy —

I absolutely love that fellow CBOX users are giving each other advice!! That’s how we know there is a real community developing here. Thank you so much for being an active part of it.

    Best,

    Matt

    Hi Troy

There’s really no problem about that : I prefer a “faulty” advice than nothing 🙂

Many thanks for having try to help me

    Hi Daniel,

The group sidebar only shows up on a single group page and not on the Groups Directory page.

Are you saying that you navigated to a single group page and do not see a group sidebar?

For example, this group, Help & Support, has a sidebar:
    https://commonsinabox.org/groups/help-support/

But the Groups Directory page does not:
    https://commonsinabox.org/groups/

    Hi Daniel,

I was able to trace the problem and have added a fix here:
    https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/commit/ac04efc68b1de415804d2ad0a754c274390aec1a

Can you temporarily make that change to wp-content/themes/cbox-theme/engine/includes/buddypress-cbox.php and see if that works for you?
