Participant role can't write to Hidden group forums & why no forum search here?

    I recently noticing a strange thing where users with the “participant” role aren’t able to start new forum topics or reply to existing ones. When I changed the user to moderator, it worked but that’s not a good solution. I tried looking at the capabilities with the “User Role Editor” plugin but I can’t find any bbpress-related capabilities. It seems bbpress uses a different set of roles & capabilities from WordPress. How would I troubleshoot bbpress capabilities and allow them to post to hidden groups?

    Has anyone encountered this issue before? It would be really good to have a search feature in this forum in order to see if anyone else had this problem.

    Hi Basem,

    Although it isn’t really visible on the site, there is a forum search form on the main Forums directory page:
    https://commonsinabox.org/forums/

    For your bbPress role question, you might want to do a search on the bbPress forums:
    http://bbpress.org/forums

    My guess as to why your user cannot post in a hidden group is that the user is not a member of that group.
