Hi — I would like to know how to enable “files” and the capacity to upload documents in groups. I don’t have a multisite. We have activated the GD bbPress Attachments plugin. I clicked “Always include” under JavaScript and CSS settings in the settings page for the plugin.
Here is our site:

Thanks!

Hi Allison,
The CUNY Academic Commons uses a plugin called “BuddyPress Group Documents” to accomplish this. However, since the plugin was abandoned by its author and has not been updated in two years, we decided not to include it in CBOX. Instead, we are working on a new system that will add file upload capabilities for our own BuddyPress Docs plugin that is included with CBOX. We do not currently have a release date set for this software, but when it is ready it will be integrated into CBOX through Docs.
Best,
Matt
Hi Alison,
On commonsinabox.org, to enable GD bbPress Attachments in BuddyPress groups, you need to navigate to the WP admin dashboard.
Next, navigate to “Forums > Attachments”. Find the “JavaScript and CSS Settings” header and check off every checkbox in this area.
Save and you should be able to add attachments to forum posts.
Perhaps we should start a wiki on the site to compile all these useful tips!
What Matt mentions is something that is in development and we don’t have a specific timeline ready for that yet.
Hi Alison
Although Buddy Press Group Documents is no longer supported it appears to still work fine. I am using it with CBOX on a portal with 5 groups each of which has a Documents area (separate from the Forum( which appears to be working OK.
It does not support folders/directories within the Documents area, but it does allow you to add a category to each document, and then filter all the documents in that category.
it also does not allow more than one document to be uploaded at a time.
Thus I have a structure
Group 1
– Forum
– Documents area
— Category A
— Category B
Group 2
– Forum
– Documents area
etc
There is an earlier conversation about installing and setting up BP Group Documents somewhere in this help forum between myself and Ray and/or Scott about this, you might be able to find it by searching or browsing.
