A new member registered at my site at http://commons.digitalthoreau.org and activated his membership. I created a new group for him to use and, in the process of creating the group, I sent him an invitation to join. He received a notification of the invitation and joined the group. As the attached screengrab shows, his joining the group shows up as an Activity item on the group’s page. However, he is still not a member of the group, which numbered 2 before the invitation was sent and still numbers 2.

The newly registered member is a colleague, so we looked at the site together from his account. He can’t see the group’s page, which is private; and when he tries to do so, he sees a “Request membership” button.

On his own profile page, he is listed as belonging to zero groups. (I see the same when I look at his profile as admin.)

I’m guessing that I could remedy the problem by having him request membership and approving it, and will try that; but I just wanted to report the bug. Has anyone else had this happen?

I should mention that I’m using the BP Registration Options plugin, v. 4.1.3 (version 4.2 is broken, as I’ve reported on the developer’s site) but have been using it for some time without incident. It may be noteworthy, though, that although the user had activated himself before I sent him the invitation, he hadn’t logged in since activating. Before inviting him, I checked him in the network user list, and he was not associated with any sites. Once he logged in, he automatically became associated with the main site.

    Hi Paul,

You are right that you should create a new group for your user. I would also recommend disabling the BP Registration Options plugin.

The CBOX team here has not vetted the BP Registration Options plugin so we cannot verify your issue, but I have heard that there are numerous issues with that plugin.
