@baly It would be really helpful if you could check your server logs to find out exactly what the error is. There must be one even if it’s not shown on screen.

@baly IIRC, you’re not allowed anything but alphanumeric characters in the site slug. That would account for your failed site creation.

Here’s an idea, @baly – why not abandon the “group forum” and just use the group-blog’s forum? It will work in just the same way (accessible via http://yoursite.domain/groupblogslug/forums) and you’ve got access to a number of bbPress widgets that can show forum content wherever you want to place them in the group-blog.

How do you show your group’s forum within the group’s blog?

A couple of questions for you @baly…

Is bbPress Network-activated? (I assume so)
Are you seeing the bbPress Custom Post Types in the Groupblog’s WP admin?

And more broadly, is there specific reason for doing this?

Scott, your instructions are spot on. Group blog creation is independent of the setting for creating sites. There’s nothing wrong with allowing sites to be created, nor anything wrong with restricting that ability. @baly in the end, it’s up to you – WordPress and CBOX will work just fine either way, no need for extra plugins.
