This conflict used to be an issue on CityTech OpenLab, a couple years ago, and we are now experiencing it on the BMCC OpenLab (cbox ol 1.2.2 and 1.2.3).

I can re-create the issue on a current Cuny Academic Commons site of mine, but not on a current CT OL site of mine.

It happens as soon as the site has published posts by more than one author: Posts that are set to stick to the top of their category archives get pushed down, if the UCE has been set to exclude that category from the main posts page. This scenario occurs when a user wants to set the site’s homepage to show one category only (announcements, for example).

When I deactivate UCE, or go to db > settings > category excluder > allow that category to show in the front page (both of which defeat the purpose), the sticky posts fix themselves and return stuck at the top.

My apologies if this is something that should be directed to the plugin creators!

See attached screenshot of a sticky post that shows low in the feed.

    Hi Syelle,

    Thanks for raising this issue!

Conflicts between two different plugins is an issue that’s independent of CBOX OpenLab — it would happen on any WordPress site — so I’m afraid it’s not something we can address. However, here’s a link to the workaround for the City Tech OpenLab, which may be helpful: https://github.com/openlab-at-city-tech/openlab/commit/7b6a71fde158181e480fdaeba879b0d8fa0f0dba

And looking at the original ticket for this issue, it looks like source of the problem is the Ultimate Category Excluder. You could try reaching out to the plugin author, but it appears Boone’s original attempt at this didn’t get a reply: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-conflict-related-to-is_home-check/

    I hope this helps!

    Bree
