    Hi,

    In short,

I´ḿ non-profit developing an open online platform for a dutch trade-union inspired by https://openlab.citytech.cuny.edu/

Installing the coomonsinabox-openlab plugin on different wordpress multisite servers there are some problems.

    – The plugin bp-group-documents freezes the installation: the white screen. After removing this plugin I can use the installation and wp-admin-edit member groups, members, categories, university, etc in suitable for a trade-union.

    – in 2 installations on my VPS after editing I get Saving.. instead of Saved

    – Dutch translation, i need the .po(t) files..

    Perhaps you can help?

    Greeting,
    Duck Swart

    Thanks, Duck, for reaching out!

It’s a holiday here today, but I’ll pose your question to the rest of the team tomorrow and get back to you as soon as we have more information or questions.

Also, it sounds like an interesting usage of the platform! I’d love to take a look at the site once it’s up and running.

    Best,
    Bree

Hello – I’m unable to reproduce the bp-group-documents issue. It sounds like a PHP fatal error is being triggered. Do you have access to your PHP or Apache error logs? It’s likely that a fatal error has been recorded there. If you’re able to pass this info along, it could help us to debug. It would also be helpful to know which version of PHP your server is running. (I did a quick scan for PHP version compatibility and the bp-group-documents plugin, and didn’t find any problems, but my scanners could’ve missed something.)

The Commons In A Box packages are made up of many individual pieces, most of which manage their own translations. So, for example, group-linked email notifications are powered by the buddypress-group-email-subscription plugin, and that plugin’s .pot file can be found in wp-content/plugins/buddypress-group-email-notification/languages. The Commons In A Box tools themselves ship with a couple of different textdomains:

    • commons-in-a-box is managed by wp-content/plugins/commons-in-a-box/languages/cbox.pot (mostly Dashboard strings related to install/upgrade)
    • openlab-theme and cbox-openlab-core don’t actually appear to ship with .pot files (we’ll fix this for an upcoming release) but I’ve generated them for you and attached them here.

Apologies – the .pot files didn’t attach properly. Here they are for download:

    Hi Duck,

I took a look at your error log and the problem is with BP Group Documents using the mb_convert_case() function.

You will need to compile PHP on your server with the mbstring extension:
    http://php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php

It would probably be good to notify the plugin authors about the need to enable mbstring for PHP in the documentation somewhere.

    Hi Duck,

Glad that solved your issue with BP Group Documents!

FYI, I deleted some of your other posts in this thread because they contained sensitive information particular to your install.
