I’ve been using the awesome Profile Fields plugin to create custom profile fields, but when I create custom fields of Field Type URL, there’s no input field generated on the registration form. I looked in the source HTML code and it’s not there either, so it’s not just a CSS or display issue. See the live  http://vadhconsortium.org/register for the issue or screenshots at https://www.dropbox.com/s/k1esro9kyj7xq9g/Screenshot%202015-05-28%2021.22.32.png?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/ped8xb8sx9bmryc/Screenshot%202015-05-28%2021.12.06.png?dl=0

I’ve determined that this is likely a CBOX theme issue: the fields show up properly when I switch to the BP theme “Fruitful” or “Farben Basic.”

I figured this out and submitted a pull request for a patch at https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme.

Would you (or someone else) be able to provide instructions on how to apply this patch please?

Does the register.php need to be replaced with the one on GiitHub? And will this fix also allow the Custom Profile Fields to be editable on already registered members?

So glad to find this Topic as it was driving be crazy trying to figure out why it wasn’t working 🙂

    Thanks

@oliver – Have you updated CBOX from the WP plugins dashboard? If so, you should have received updates for the CBOX Theme as well.

If you are using the bp-default theme or a deriviative of that theme, you can update these two files in your theme:

Thanks for the advice – the dashboard says everything is up to date – Commons In A Box (as listed in plugins and on the CBOX dashboard) states it’s on version 1.0.11.

However, when I looked into my theme (I’m using the default CBOX theme) it says the theme itself is version 1.0.10 – is this how it should be, or should the theme also be 1.0.11? I’ve not found an update to the theme anywhere though?

@oliver – Thanks for listing your details.

I can confirm that there was a small oversight in our deployment of v1.0.11. We forgot to bump the version number of the theme internally.

You can fix this by making one small change to wp-content/plugins/commons-in-a-box/admin/theme-install.php:
    https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/commons-in-a-box/commit/cc434c1a826e58574325f2fb4c60c1f2e60af5c4

After you have made this change, refresh the CBOX dashboard and you should see a link to update the CBOX Theme.

Apologies for not catching this during our internal testing!

@Ray – Thanks so much for your help, this worked exactly as you said and now the profile fields are editable.  Must be a big package to manage, so no wonder some bits get missed 🙂 but not a problem, thanks again.
