We’re unable to update the theme Commons in a Box.  We’re seeing this error for the last couple of days:

The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

We updated using cbox-theme-master.zip from GitHub, but the error does not go away.

We’re using PHP 7.215 for Ubuntu 18.04.1, if that matters.

    Hi Jack,

Can you walk through exactly the steps you are using to update the theme?

If you are updating manually by downloading the ZIP from GitHub:

    • Extract the ZIP you downloaded from GitHub and place it in wp-content/themes on your server
    • Rename the older cbox-theme on your server to cbox-theme-old.
    • Rename the cbox-theme-1.1.1 folder from the ZIP file to cbox-theme

cbox-theme should now be updated.  If the theme is updated, you can remove the wp-content/themes/cbox-theme-old directory.

Let us know if that works or not.

Thanks, Ray.  That’s exactly what we did yesterday.  The update process worked as expected.

Clicking the update banner was problematic.

The banner did disappear when we completed the more “manual” update.

    Again, thanks for your help.
