I really appreciate the patient and understanding responses I have received to my two previous “frustration” posts.

I am once again at it, and don’t really understand how people new to wordpress, buddypress, or CBOX, are suppose to know much of this stuff I am trying to figure out. After countless hours of trial and error, I finally discovered that I could not see or access my “register” page when I am logged into my site (does the documentation tell us that anywhere?). When I place a link for the “register page” in my menu and then log out of my site, I notice a computer generated registration form appears when I click on the link. How do I edit this page and place my own language on the page? There is absolutely nothing on the page when I go to the “register” page through my dashboard.

Furthermore, I have no idea how to add my own text under the slider on my home page. Once again, if I go to the “home” page through my dashboard there is no information on the page, and I don’t seem to be able to add text through the “CBOX Theme Option” link either.

Where can I find information for these basic type issues without having to continually pester forum members?

    Thanks!!

    Guy

    Hello Guy

I had to knock around a good bit at first as well, that famous 5 minute install took me a little over a week!

Not sure what you mean by “register” page, do you mean the log on?

As far as the slider on the front page, if you go to the dashboard>add feature>add an image>make it a featured image>add a title, the slide should appear in the slider, with the title at the bottom.

    Thanks, Arthur.

The default installation of of CBOX creates a “register” page. It appears to be the page people complete to “join” the community (“commons”).

I figured out how to get the slider working. It’s just that I can figure out how to place any welcome or introductory “text” regarding the site on the home page below the slider.

    Guy,

Dashboard > Appearance > Widgits> Homepage middle (on right)

You have a number of options, but to keep it simple, drag “text” from the left over “homepage middle” click the triangle on “text” and enter your welcome.

You can include some HTML here to style the text if necessary.

    Hi Guy,

    About registration, read this reply:

About the “Slider Header” option in the CBOX Theme Options page, it looks like you’re correct. The text does not show up under the slider.

This appears to be a bug; I’ve posted a report here with a potential solution:
