Hi and Thanks in Advance!
I Love Common in a box. It is what I wanted and now I have this, but unfortunately, I am having some problem with these.
When I click my site feature image ( Slider Image ) it goes nowhere. I want to link slider image with my product page or anywhere, but I can’t. How can I do this?
When I add a featured image in a post it appears in post and when I go to post page there I have image but it also shows horizontally on top of the page or post. I want keep this image in my post but I don’t want to show it top of the page. Is there any way to having featured image in post and not showing up on the post?
When I reply or comment in activity stream /forums /groups the text box and image(thumbnail) look stretched and text is too short, I can’t read it while writing. How can I make text size big and how can I outstretched the text box and thumbnail image?
For making a child theme I just copy the entire theme folder “cbox-theme”, and paste it, named it ( my-child-theme ) and using as my theme and making changes in it, am I doing right or wrong ?
I hope you understand, Excuse me for my poor English.
Hi Muhammad – I tested clicking the slider image on my site – using both site features and featured posts from a category – and clicking on the image takes me back to the actual post. Are you running the latest version of CBOX? I know if you click the area where the text appears, the link doesn’t work – and actually there is a ticket about being able to create links within the text. Not really sure why you are having this issue. You are clicking the image itself, and not the text area?
In terms of the Featured image appearing in a post, I think I agree with you – it would be nicer not to have it appear. @Bowe – Do you have any thoughts about this? And maybe the other two items as well? Thanks!
Hi @Scott Voth!
Yes I do have a latest version of CBOX. I tested clicking the slider image on my site using site feature and clicking on the image takes me back on blank page, it appears top of the page half sized horizontally as I mention before. And I tried to make link in between description text but no luck.
I am sending you screenshots please take a look.
and what about child theme question?
Thank you very much.
Hi Muhammad –
I’m not sure, but it seems that from the screenshots you sent, when you click on the slider image, it is actually taking you to the site feature post. (That’s what it does on my site too.) However, it seems that you’d rather not go there, since it has the featured image at the top, and nothing else. On the Site Feature post, you can add some more content to fill out your display. Not sure if that works for you – I sense you are unhappy with the featured image at the top. So maybe as an alternative, you could install a plugin like “Page Links To” (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page-links-to/)? Then on the site feature post, scroll down and redirect the link to a page or post of your choice. Then, when you click on your slider image, you can link to whatever page or post you want. Hope those steps make sense.
As far as making a CBOX child theme – I actually haven’t had time to do this myself – but reading PressCrew’s documentation (https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/themes/developer-guide), it looks like it’s basically the same process as creating any Child Theme in WordPress (See http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes), although there seem to be some advanced tweaks. @Bowe is the expert on these – but I bet others in this group have also created CBOX child themes and maybe can chime in.
Hope this helps!
