A feature that I see at CUNY Commons that I would like to implement on my site is that each member can make their own blogs. I see these listed when I click on “blogs” on the CUNY Commons home page. Also, when I click on an individual person’s name (on the People page), I see a nice menu on the left that has a “Sites” button, with links to that person’s blogs.

How can I implement this in my installation of “Commons in a Box”? I do have a multi-site installation of WordPress.

    Hi Dan,

Since you already have a multisite install of WordPress, you should just need to enable “Site Tracking” in the BuddyPress components page:
    http://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/configure-buddypress-components/

Login to the Network Admin page (example.com/network/wp-admin), next navigate to “Commons In A Box > Plugins”, find “BuddyPress” and click on the “Settings” link.

Then, follow the guide linked above to enable the “Site Tracking” module in BuddyPress.

For the “Blogs” directory, make sure you have attached a page for Sites; there is a section about this in the guide linked above as well.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks! That worked.

For the benefit of anyone that needs help setting this up, here’s what I did. Under Settings > BuddyPress > Components, I enabled “Site Tracking.” Then a message appeared with a “Repair” button, saying that “Site Tracking” needs to be associated with a page. When I clicked Repair, it took me to the “Pages” tab of the BuddyPress settings, where I could see that there was no page associated with the Site Tracking component. To create the page, I clicked on “New Page” next to Site Tracking. I named the page, but otherwise left the page blank. After publishing the page, I could assign that page to the Site Tracking component. Then, under Appearance > Menus, I added the new site tracking page to the main menu.
