    Hi everyone,

I’ve been building a website for an educational organization I founded called the Boston Rhetoric and Writing Network (www.bostonrhetoricandwriting.org). The beta website worked wonderfully until the WordPress auto-update caused the host to rename all the FTP files. Even after renaming them, we couldn’t get the menu links to work. We decided to go ahead with the website anyway; however, now we’re running into a different problem.

Whenever someone creates a private group, when you click to finish the group after selecting an avatar, it says the link is broken, and no avatar is uploaded. At the same time, we are unable to start threads in our forums. Any ideas for helping a non-tech guy through fixing this issue?

Sorry. I meant to add, whenever I try to create a thread in a forum, it says I do not have permission to create new topics.

Thanks again for your help with this.

    Hi James,

Are you running the latest version of CBOX and have you updated the CBOX Theme and plugins?

Are you still running into problems with WordPress auto-updates?

I do have the latest version and updated the theme and plugins.  I think. I went into plugins and attempted to update them all and nothing happened, and I don’t see a place to update the CBOX theme (it’s version 1.0.4).  Perhaps I configured the forums wrong when creating a group? But you just click the forum box and then in the admin panel, you make sure the dropdown menu is on Group Forums, right?

And I have no idea what is going on with the avatars.

I just shut off the WordPress auto-update on my host. I think the problem was with how DreamHost runs the auto-update.

Thanks again for all of your help.

    James
