I notice that this Help and Support forum allows attachments. And that in the blog posted by Boone on BuddyPress.org about Maine http://buddypress.org/2013/01/an-online-community-for-educators-built-with-buddypress/ there is a solution for group documents.

Can you advise how to do this or recommend a place to look?

    Thanks.

Hi @Scott @Ray and everyone else

Any ideas in response to the above? I currently can’t see the original post and so not sure what I wrote exactly but in essence I would like to know how this forum enables attachments. Is it the Group Attachments plug in or something else?

As far as I can tell Group Attachments enables the creation of a new Documents area in each group, but does not enable attachments to forum posts. It would be great to have attachments to forum posts. Is there an element of CBOX I have overlooked? Or are you using an additional plug in or some customisations?

    Thanks

    Gordon

Hi – I think you can find info at –  https://commonsinabox.org/groups/help-support/forum/topic/attachments/

As Ray writes:  “GD bbPress Attachments is what is used for attachments on this site. We’re using this site to test it out.”

    Thanks Scott.

I would be interested in knowing in due course when you are satisfied it is all OK  with GD bbPress Attachments. I didn’t realise that plugin worked with BP forums (as opposed to bbPress site-wide forums). I gather that his is becoming or will soon become a non issue with BP 1.7.

In the meantime I am using BP Group Documents to create a separate Documents area within each Group. Seems to be working OK so far – and that is what I want – to create a document library, mainly for people to upload and share PDFs in a private topic specific environment. It does concern me that the plug in author states that they are no longer able to work on it. I think this function is needed by many people and while Attachments and Wiki style docs are fantastically useful they are not quite the same.

Hence I am hoping someone will pick up BP Group Documents …

I am also using BP Group Documents with the same concern that ir is no longer supported. And yes, it is working well, although it would be great if there was a tree-like category layout to easily find and pigeon-hole documents.

It would be great if there was a CBOX solution provided for documents with, perhaps, DropBox/Cloud support.

Let me a comment on the above link if you find (or not) any bugs.

    Bests,
