I’m also wondering why we don’t have a new topic button on our forums like you have here. We have the basic theme with the latest plugins…

This forum has possibility to attach files. Where/how is this enabled? Not sure if the feature was available before.

This forum uses the GD bbPress Attachments plugin – see:  http://www.dev4press.com/plugins/gd-bbpress-attachments/

Thanks @scottvoth. And how can I fix the other issues I mention in this post:

Access to ‘fancy editor’ not working even when enabled at settings level (or any type of editor, for now we just have a plain window with html to write for any type of formatting!)
    Reintroducing a ‘new topic’ button.

    Thank you for your attention.

Hi Helene – It notice the same after upgrading.  Thanks for reporting.  Looks like this maybe an issue with the CBOX theme.  I have opened up issues for the developers on GitHub.  You can track resolution at https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/147 and https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/148

Thanks @scottvoth. I’m not sure how to do this. Where to find the file to change. could you give me some hints?

There’s a couple of other issues with the forum:

    – Permissions are not respected in recent topics and recent replies in forum sidebar: topics and replies in hidden groups appear in both even to public vue (logged out)

    – Buletted list and text size not formated in recent topics on forum sidebar: see how it looks on your own forums sidebar… https://commonsinabox.org/forums

Helene – Thanks for reporting those issues with the bbPress widgets.  I have let the developers know about it at https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/150  It might be an issue with the bbPress – not really sure.

For your first question – I am not sure when the next release of CBOX will be available.  Maybe @r-a-y would know?

If you really need that file and feel comfortable with using FTP – you can get the file Ray modified here: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/blob/c4db6e27649c6e4c2995f965b1371c3dc88491eb/engine/includes/buddypress-cbox.php

Or you can just click on “ZIP” at the top of this page (https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme) to get the whole theme as a zip file, unzip it and find the “engine/includes/buddypress-cbox.php” file.  This zip file is what the developers are working on and I would not recommend installing the whole thing – since it might have some untested code.

Or you can wait for the next release…

Thanks @scottvoth. I think I will wait, as I can’t find any of these files in the plugin editor, not sure where to look… and don’t want to fiddle around with this.

While we are on editors, there’s the editor of the groups that could be the fancy one too… it would help showcase the groups a little better. Not sure this is the best place to post…

@scottvoth There’s a couple of other bugs on the forums, not sure on which github issues list to put this:

For no-parent forums, the forum description text does not appear at all under the title of the forum on the no parent forums’ page themselves… They only appear on the forums lists page under no parent forums  (in a super small font).
There’s no description under group forums on the list page… (by default on the group forum page, the group forum discussion is the group description)
The group forums titles are by default the group name, and it is reapeated on the group’s forum page look just here: https://commonsinabox.org/groups/help-support/forum/. The forums enabled for private groups appear with ‘private:’ in front of the repeated forum title. This is not the case for hidden groups where the repeated forum name is just the name of the group…  Maybe just ‘Forum’ could be added to the group name at the top of the group forum page with no need to repeat?
For topics: The forum topics initial post/text doesn’t appear directly under the topic’s title, but under the replies header, so it is aggregated with all the other replies and does not stand out as the original question. This is no problem for a help forum, but for featured discussions, the initial question would derserve to be put directly under the title and stand out.
There’s no favorite, subscribe or RSS option at the forum level to receive notifications of new topics (or I didn’t find where it operates)
How to get rid of the mention ‘Your account has the ability to post unrestricted HTML content’ now that the Wysiwyg editor has been reinstated? It displays sytematically on all forum edit pages…
There’s an ‘edit entry’ link at the bottom of the Forums list that leads to dashboard blog posts list…

Actually @scottvoth, I managed to find the ‘includes/frontend-bbpress.php’ file and make the wysiwyg editor reactivation, but I still can’t find the ‘engine/includes/buddypress-cbox.php’ file under Cbox either in the plugin editor or in the theme editor… Could you give me the path? Thanks!

Hi – I don’t think you can use the theme editor to get to that file.  I think you need to use FTP, if you are comfortable with that.  Just be careful.

Thanks @scottvoth. Unfortunately I don’t know how to use FTP… and I probably wouldn’t do it.

Do you have an idea of when the next release will be available?
