I just stumbled across the Commons the other day and have tried to set it up on two different test sites. One fresh and one with other stuff attached to it and I come across multiple problems.

For one lots of plugins I’m already am using scream murder when i try to install them on top on the commons. If already installed they seem to be more compatible.

Second of all even though the theme tagging along with the commons plugin seems very neat the forum breaks when using it on a smartphone.

In Avada theme which would be my preferred weapon of choice for my community that is not an issue but there on the other hand the forum text board is not writeable due to what seem to be a crash with the Fusion Core plugin that is mandatory for Avada to work.

Any one have any ideas on how to bypass that issue?

To check if bbPress (the forum plugin we are using with CBOX) is working correctly, temporarily switch your theme to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Twelve. If the forums work with the Twenty Twelve theme, then you will need to contact the developers of the Avada theme to see what is wrong.

If you are only experiencing display issues with bbPress, you will need to add some custom CSS to make everything gel with your Avada theme.

Check out the documentation on the bbPress site to adjust the CSS:

Thanks for your response but I was not clear.

The bbpress forum breaks up in my smartphone when I use the commons in a box theme.

Avada is not usable at all with your plugin since their theme core plugin (Fusion Core) conflicts with your plugin. However just bbpress and Avada works like a charm in harmony together what ever device I throw their way.

Thanks for the report about bbPress not being responsive with the CBOX theme.

I’ve added a note to this existing issue:
    https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/176

About Avada not being usable because of CBOX, what do you mean exactly? Do PHP errors pop up on the site? Is it a display issue somewhere? Is it a problem with BuddyPress? Some details here would help so we can understand what the problem is.
