Hi, this is strange. It seems I can’t see the initial post of  forum thread. Not even my own… So I see beautiful answers to questions I can’t figure out. 🙂

Me too. Includes the post I just submitted. I can’t see it. I can only reply.

Hi – It took me a while to recreate the issue.  It seems that when you are logged on, everything is fine.  But when you log out and try to read the forum, the initial posts seem to have vanished.  Can you please confirm that’s what you are seeing as well?  I will write up a ticket on this.  Thanks.

I can’t see it logged in or logged out.  Just the replies.

Logged in I have the issue. Maybe it’s only logged in as an admin that you can see it?

You are welcome. Plus I think the issue is rather recent. A couple of days? I hadn’t noticed it before…

    Very weird bug indeed.

It appears to be bbPress related:
    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/first-entry-missing-on-single-topic-page-visible-only-for-admin/
    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/first-post-not-showing/
    http://bbpress.org/forums/topic/first-entry-missing-for-everyone-hidden-forums-not-showing-except-for-admin/

We’re not using any user access control plugins, which is what the forum threads above allude to.

I attempted to use bbPress’ “Remap existing users to default forum roles” option under “Tools > Forums”, but that didn’t seem to fix the problem.

Will look into it a bit more tomorrow as it’s late over here.

@Scott – “It seems that when you are logged on, everything is fine.  ”

No it happens when you are logged in. About a week ago I started noticing that if I created a topic and then went away (possibly logging out and logging back in but maybe not), when I came back to this site I could not see the first (and only) post in the topic.

For example right now I can go into my user profile and see a post I created. I can see the beginning of the post on the list (of activity) on my profile. But if I click on that topic/post I see only Scott’s reply to it, not the original post.

And it must also be true of other people’s posts as I cannot see the first post in this topic; the first post I see is Dave’s reply “and I thought it was just me …”

    Hi everyone,

The issue is fixed now on commonsinabox.org.

In our case, it was caused by an out-of-date version of BuddyPress Docs, which was interfering with bbPress’s reply queries. If you’re having a similar problem on your site, please upgrade Commons In A Box to the latest version (currently 1.0.2), and follow the instructions when Commons In A Box asks you to upgrade your other plugins.
