    @helenef writes: “Groupwide email notifications do not appear in group activity.”

    One of CBOX’s plugins, BuddyPress Group Email Subscription, lets users determine how they want to receive email notifications.  You can read more here – https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/plugins/buddypress-group-email-subscription

    One additional feature is that it allows a group admin to send out emails to anyone, regardless of their notification settings.  Should this email be included in the activity stream?  I tested and agree that it currently does not appear there. I’m also not sure if it should…

    @r-a-y / @cbox_admin – What do you think??

    Thanks @scottvoth. Not sure the email is sent to ‘anyone’. In what we have it is sent to ‘everyone’ in a group and in this case I think it is important for sake of transparency that there is a track of what has been sent to everyone somewhere… even only for the admin’s records… or self moderation…

    Yes, email announcements take place outside of the activity feed. Helene, if you would like your messages to be part of the activity feed, simply post them to the forum.

    @scottvoth – I did not receive the at-mention email.  Weird.

    Anyway, what Matt states is correct.  The “Email notice” function is meant to be used for rudimentary, occasional email blasts and is not meant to be recorded in the group activity stream.

    If you need something posted in the group activity stream, then you should ideally create a new forum topic in your group like Matt mentions above.

    The “email notice” feature was coded by another developer on the Group Email Subscription plugin and is really only ideal for small working groups.  If you have a rather, large group this functionality probably won’t scale well.
