Hi I have some issues/questions on blog comments.
How could we have the comments in reverse order (currently fist one on top, I would like the last one on top like in the forum or docs comments)?
Is there a way to get long comments to be truncated/collapsed at display with a read more link so it doesn’t cram pages? Thanks.
Ping! 🙂
This is a WordPress setting.
Try logging into the WP dashboard and navigate to “Settings > Discussion”.
Next, find the “Comments should be displayed with the…” option and select “newer”.
Good @r-a-y order solved! Thanks!
How about collapse of long posts?
Ping! Is there a way to collapse /truncate long comments on blogs? i.e.so that only a few lines appear and then can be expanded by clicking a more link?
Hi Helene — have you tried searching the WP plugin repo for comment-related plugins?
Hi @mkgold. I tried, but can’t find anything relevant -most revolve around facebook and social. Not sure how to formulate the query…
Looking for the same thing for forum posts as well…
Hi Helene
Please have a look at http://disqus.com/ I’ve seen it on a few really good websites that rely on a robust comments system, but have not been brave enough to try it myself.
Hi Helene —
Try searching for “comment excerpt” — some of the results there might give
you what you need.
Also try searching the BbPress plugin repo for forum related plugins –
http://bbpress.org/plugins/
Best,
Matt
Thanks @mkgold. Have you heard of http://wordpress.org/plugins/gd-bbpress-tools/ is it compatible with groups?
Hi Helene —
I haven’t experimented with it. Perhaps give it a try and report back.
Considering that you are looking to do a lot of custom work to your CBOX
install, you might consider setting up a development site so that you can
experiment with new plugins to test out their compatibility before
implementing on your production website.
Best,
Matt
