Thanks for the help and links. I’m now sorted.
October 8, 2014 at 8:41 am #5159sam brownParticipantHi Christian, thanks for the reply. I have tried version one of your suggestions. The multisite set up seems to be working but when a member of the main site transfers to the new sub-site they are required to login in again. The site does accept the registered username and password but because of my log in set up they are then redirected back to their profile page on the main site. I could presumably remove the sub-site login and add a restrict content view plugin but I just wondered if this is the expected outcome or whether I have missed a step. As a note, I have also ended up with sub-directories rather than sub-domains, not sure if that has any impact on the issue.

There is a facebook one as well but we found this keep crashing our site.
September 8, 2014 at 7:05 am #5099sam brownParticipantI’d also like to know if anyone has tried the new wordpress out yet and whether a new cbox is coming out soon. Any pointers would be great. I am restraining pushing update on the pile of plugins flashing at me as I guess they are all wordpress 4 related updates and I don’t want to throw my cbox out of sync. However, there may of course be no need for concern.
September 8, 2014 at 6:50 am #5098sam brownParticipantI started with <strong style=”font-weight: 400; color: #000000;”>BuddyPress Courseware but just couldn’t get it to work. It also hasn’t been updated for a couple of years but it looks like some one may take the project over. I am looking for space for students to <span style=”color: #545454;”>recording </span><span style=”color: #545454;”>training and experience progress. </span>My gut feeling is that there’s a solution in groups, collabpress, gravity forms and events manager and whilst search for that combination I came across this: http://www.pootlepress.com/2012/06/how-to-build-an-intranet-with-wordpress/ .
August 19, 2014 at 5:37 pm #5032sam brownParticipantThanks for this, I’ve added wordfence. What is Ray’s plugin called if I just allow university emails?
August 13, 2014 at 7:36 am #4990sam brownParticipantDon’t know how I missed it. Very obvious! Content Options > Background colour. For some reason my settings seem to have reset themselves (maybe a plugin update???) but fixed now. Thanks
July 25, 2014 at 10:13 am #4928sam brownParticipantIt was a plugin conflict, just need to work out which one now.
May 5, 2014 at 8:15 am #4696April 30, 2014 at 11:46 am #4672sam brownParticipantHi, I have the pages but I’ve just notice my working site has [bbp-register] and [bbp-activate] in those pages. i have added that but still no joy. This non-working site is also a multi-site so I think that must be where I am going wrong. Buddypress only appears under network admin but pages only under my main site dashboard. Is that correct?
April 30, 2014 at 11:23 am #4671sam brownParticipantI can’t see anything obvious but maybe I’m not looking at the right thing. I removed an attachment and tried to re do one entry but now I can’t add attachments either. I also can’t access page 2 and am redirected to the ‘Darn it … Nothing found’ page. It is however just the main menu as each individual wiki displays properly onced clicked through. My wiki page is http://studentsurveyor.com/wiki/ – if you have time to cast you expert eye over it I would appreciate it.

April 29, 2014 at 11:21 am #4665sam brownParticipantI am having the same problem with a new cbox install (my existing site is fine). In the new install both http://mydomain.com/register/ and http://mydomain.com/wp-login.php or http://mydomain.com/wp-login redirect to the home page so the buttons for join us or login take you nowhere and even typing the url in redirects to the home (mydomain.com) page
