My question really belongs in the FAQ section but I am posting it here because there is no way to post questions in the FAQ section.

I have a simple instance of WordPress installed and would like to know which plug-ins are built specifically for multi-site WP install.  This would help me determine if I should change my WP installation to take advantage of the functionalities afforded by these multi-site specific plug-ins.

It would be great if this info is posted within the description of each plug-in so the user community know what features to expect when CBOX is installed.

    Hi BJ,

I think the appropriate question to ask yourself is “What are my website’s needs?” and not “Which plugins are built specifically for a multisite WP install?”

If you believe you’ll need a network of blogs or subsites, then a multisite WP install would be appropriate.

For that reason, the multisite plugins that CBOX utilizes are blog-specific:

    * More Privacy Options – Adds additional blog privacy options for your users.
    * BP MPO Activity Filter – a plugin to keep private blog content out of public activity feeds
    * BP Groupblog – Enables a BuddyPress group to be associated with a multisite blog.

You are always welcome to install a multisite install of WP locally to evaluate if you need network functionality.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Ray,

Thanks for the detail response. It was indeed helpful.

I have inherited a website that has WP single site installation.  My website could greatly benefit from group blogging and that was why I asked the question. Knowing the answer would help me  determine if I needed to change/upgrade my website to mulitsite first before attempting install CBOX. It would seem I do need to migrate to multisite first.

    Hi BJ,

Try reading this guide to convert your standard WP install to a network install:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

I would recommend backing up your database and filesystem before doing this.

Also, if possible, try to do this on a development or local environment.
