After a long run of luck and a problem free site, I suddenly seem besieged by problems. My entire site, with the exception of the homepage, has become inaccessible with each link throwing up a ‘This webpage is not available’ notice. Any advice gratefully received.

    HI Sam —

Can you please share a link to your site and also let us know whether you’ve recently made any changes (site upgrades, new plugin installs, etc.) to it recently?

    Best,

    Matt

Hi Matt, Thanks for replying. No recent updates. I have wordpress 3.8 and I did update plugins until about a week ago but stopped because my sidebar widgets bar homepage suddenly disappeared and I wondered if I was causing conflict by updating before the next commons update. I have 9 updates pending in the admin bar but only 6 showing up in the list. I assume the other 3 are integrated into cbox. I have been out all day but the site was working this morning (UK time – think we are roughly 5 hours ahead of you). Last registered member was  today January 17, 2014 1:28 pm (very roughly 6 hours ago), so I assume all was fine then. My site link is studentsurveyor.com

I have tried changing permalinks and deactivating and reactivating recently updated plugins – but no joy.

Hmm — just took a look and the site seems to be showing up fine. Can you give links and an explanation of specific problems you are seeing?

Well it is good news if everyone else can see it. but I am getting a ‘this page is not available‘ notice when I navigate anywhere outside the home page. Same on my phone (iphone 4s – in case that’s relevant).

Two days ago I noticed that most of my sidebar widgets disappeared (again not the homepage) and a few days before that some of my shortcodes stopped displaying and the the code was all you could see on the front end of the website.

Just asked one of our members to check – they are using IE, as opposed to my chrome, they too can view the entire site. Any ideas where I am going wrong??

No idea — I am viewing in Chrome, too. Are you unable to see the site
whether or not you are logged in? Maybe try clearing your browser cookies
    and cache?

OK suddenly into wiki but certain words are now highlighted in the widget text which when clicked on or hovered over, goes through to competition and advert pop ups!! In light of all my recent website oddities, I think I must somehow be the victim of some spam or hack. Last question so as not to inundate the forum .. but does any one have any advice on where to go next?

I’d suggest trying a different computer to see whether the problems are
    local to your machine.
