    Hi

I’m having trouble getting the top menu background color to change as well as the drop down color, the text color change and border change is working.

Hi Mike – thanks for reporting this issue.  I checked too and found it is not working for me either.   I will open up a ticket for this and have the theme developers look at it.

Has there been any progress on this? I just added CBOX and was working on the settings & the issue with the background colors still exists.

Please advise with any new info if they are working on fixing this.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mary,

    Just saw your posts.

It appears the related ticket for this was closed:
    https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/88

Can you list the steps necessary to duplicate this? Let me know and I’ll try and replicate it.

    @Ray

Ok I’ve included screen shot links below of the areas I’m referring to

(cbox theme options, options tab, menus: includes above header, inside header, below header)

    https://www.diigo.com/item/image/3leac/sg8n (frontend view)

*I have added a menu to all sections in the screen shot to show where they are. They are supposed to each have settings to customize.

    https://www.diigo.com/item/image/3leac/w014 (backend view)

In these menu option settings it gives  the option to customize the various areas of each menu

The option to change the background color does not work for me on any of the menu areas ( above header, inside header, below header)

I do not have a bunch of plugins installed, only what is added with buddypress & CBOX

Here is the URL for my test site: http://community.planetearththrift.com/ to see it live.

So basically the issue is still the same as what the original poster had: all other settings are changeable, but the background color is not.

It’s hard to imagine why the dev’s considered this fixed or that there aren’t any other CBOX users experiencing the same problem. I hope you can help with this.

    Thanks

    Hi Mary,

Thanks for posting the screenshots;  they helped and I was able to reproduce the problem.

I’ve added a potential fix to address this problem over here:
    https://github.com/PressCrew/infinity/pull/83

The code change is listed here:
    https://github.com/r-a-y/infinity/commit/89a7be16883d2710693092c08ec90d6357beedcd

If you’re adventurous, you can apply this change temporarily.  If not, you’ll have to wait until the theme developers are able to look at my fix and see if it is good enough to address the problem.

    Thanks @r-a-y

I will see about applying your fix. I forgot to mention that I am using Buddypress 1.7, beta 1, as this was suggested on the Buddypress.org site since they had planned on releasing this version soon & since this was a new install, better to not start with a version that would be changed very soon. Not sure if this version is what is causing the code issue for the menu background issues.

I see now there is a 1.7,  beta 2 available so I will update to that version & report back on whether the issue still exists.

    @r-a-y

I tried updating to the newer version: 1.7, beta 2, but it did not fix this issue.

So I went ahead and made the change in engine/ICE/dom/style.php, and it did the trick 🙂

Now will this get overwritten when I update CBOX next time? Therefore having to correct it again? Or maybe they will have fixed this issue by the time they release the next update 🙂

Thanks again for all your help.

@mary – Yes, the change will get overwritten.

I received word from the theme developers and perhaps you can try what they suggest first:
    https://github.com/PressCrew/infinity/pull/83#issuecomment-16131464

Perhaps my fix is not necessary although the workflow, as described by MrMaz, is a little unintuitive, but it should work.

If it doesn’t let me know and I’ll let the theme developers know.

    @r-a-y

So if I apply their fix then I should undo the one you gave me, correct?

Which background area were they referring to? For the header or the content?

Also I don’t see anywhere to change the current menu item in the options (default seems to be a black image). It seems odd that there is a way to set all other colors within the menu area, but not that part.

If I’m correct about it not being an option in the “menus options” this definitely should be suggested to the dev’s in the next update.

Can you point me in the direction of where (what file) that might be for me to make the change manually?

I’ve included screenshots for you to see a visual of what I’m talking about.

    https://www.diigo.com/item/image/3leac/m0tb (current menu item frontend)

    https://www.diigo.com/item/image/3leac/6tk7 (menus options, below header)

It only has an option for sub-item background color.

I hope you can solve this for me 🙂

    Thanks, Mary

    Hi @mary,

You’re right. I checked the CBOX Theme Options page and could not see a background area option.

I’m guessing that they were referring to “Background Overlay”, but I see that is already set to “None”.

I’ve added a comment to the developer:
    https://github.com/PressCrew/infinity/pull/83#issuecomment-16326891

And will see what he has to say.

    ok thanks @r-a-y

Where would I or anyone who needs to suggest a improvement point out the other issues in the options?

    ( I found 2 of them):

Also I don’t see anywhere to change the current menu item in the options (default seems to be a black image). It seems odd that there is a way to set all other colors within the menu area, but not that part.
The active current sidebar (which is default with a black image)

Both these things are important to be able to customize like the other areas already listed under the options tab. Most people looking to customize the other areas would want those types of areas added as well to customize in the options. Its like they just didn’t add in all the important parts, that they stopped before making sure all were included.

I hope this makes sense. 🙂 If I need to start a new thread to highlight this let me know. Thanks again.
