Hi, for the next round of Commons in a Box will the CBOX them also be iterated on? If so, will it still be based on the Infinity Theme Engine?

I’m asking because we are in the midst of a development that requires some custom templates to support CPTs and other project areas and I don’t want to invest a bunch of time in orienting myself to the Infinity engine unless it’s going to be around still. FWIW, I hope it does remain, it looks like a well thought out and logical system.

    Cheers,

    Troy

Hi Troy – Sorry for the late response.  Yes, we will continue to base our default theme on Infinity Theme Engine.  We are also planning to do some upgrades to CBOX, thanks to a grant.  We plan to make a new “flavor” of CBOX that focuses on teaching classes on the platform – but that is four months+ in the future.

I am not sure if that is your direction – but we can provide more info if it is…

Hi Scott, I would be most interested in your new flavor of CBOX. Also, my original questions faded pretty quickly when I buckled down and put a few templates in place. This engine is delightful to customize with and a I’m a big proponent of the liberal use of template parts.

Our current project does involve program delivery using CBOX. It is an executive level program, so we are not looking at traditional LMS functionality which is why we chose CBOX. It is more portfolio and networked learning community based in nature.

We have our development environment in place, I’m just going through “solving the problems” and design requests people are raising. Things are going well, I love the environment. I did have a few hiccups initially, we are running our WordPress installation in docker and also closing it to only community members.

The next major challenge is getting our roles and access right. Our plan is to use Advanced Access Manager for this. Having one little problem with this, but we’ll nail it down.
