Hi, everyone. I’m sure you’re sick of me by now, but I need help again!
We’ve had a few spam user registrations come through and send out messages to all of our users. Is there a way to moderate user registrations e.g. – new users must be approved by an admin? I see there are plugins to do this, but also realize adding plugins to CBOX isn’t recommended by and large. What can I do?

    Hi Joanna,

You might find this plugin — written by the Commons/CBOX team — useful —
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-rsed/

I’ve used it on several CBOX sites to good effect to restrict registration to particular domains, such as .edu and .org

    Best,

    Matt

Also worth looking at https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-registration-options/ which will hold new signups for moderation.

BTW, there’s no reason not to add other useful plugins to a CBOX install – it’s just that we may not have tested them.

    Cheers, Christian

CBOX has its roots in the CUNY Academic Commons, which in turn was made possible through funding from The City University of New York itself.
