For one of the public groups at http://sunygeneseoenglish.org, the only activity that shows up in the group feed is “Group Memberships.” Blog posts, comments, etc. do not show up on the group’s home page or in site-wide activity.
The group’s home page is https://sunygeneseoenglish.org/groups/reader-and-text/
By contrast, this group’s feed is working as expected: https://sunygeneseoenglish.org/groups/american-studies/
I’ve searched in vain for a setting I may have overlooked or a switch that’s toggled the wrong way. Perhaps there’s a way to fix this through the database?
Thanks (as always!) for any light/help.
For your group blog, can you check the “Search Engine Visibility” setting under “Settings > Reading” in the WP admin dashboard? Ensure “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” is unchecked and save.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an automated tool to backfill older blog posts and comments into the group activity stream. You can try editing a group blog post and resaving the entry. This should re-insert the blog post into the group activity stream.
Let me know if that helps.
That did it, Ray! Thanks!!
I’m not concerned about backfilling at this point – just wanted to figure out what was blocking the activity from appearing. I’d noticed that setting and should have thought to try changing it. I see that it also affects email notifications.
Anyway, thanks again!
