    Is there a way to enable the regular CBOX menu on mobile devices (and optionally to disable the mobile menu) as on the CUNY Academic Commons? I tried to re-enable it from the responsive.css, but it is disabled somewhere in the code with multiple inline style=”display: none;” (I think so).

    Hi Iurie @iurie –

    The CUNY Academic Commons preceded CBOX by several years and is full of customizations.  It does not use the CBOX theme.  In terms of disabling the responsive theme’s menu – I am assuming you might want a toggle on/off?  Maybe @haystack or @r-a-y might be able to direct you where in the code to begin and give you an idea of how complex that change would be.  I’m not sure.

    @iurie you’d have to customise your child theme to do this. If I were you, I’d rip out the existing menu code and insert your own, or copy code from (say) the Twenty Thirteen theme, which is already responsive. You’ll probably have to deregister the Javascript that converts the menu from list-based into select-based dropdown or else it’ll try and do that with you new menu.

    wp_dequeue_script( 'jquery-mobilemenu' );

    Cheers, Christian

    @haystack –
    Christian, thank you! I will experiment with this.

    Regards,
    Iurie

CBOX has its roots in the CUNY Academic Commons, which in turn was made possible through funding from The City University of New York itself.
