Hi Boone, thanks for stepping in.

My Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks are set to Day & name in common settings: http://dev.commonsabundance.net/2013/11/14/sample-post/

    and nothing in optional.

And also reminding of an initial bug on tag redirection that we had discussed that hasn’t been resolved yet.

@investa – As a test, would mind switching to a different permalink setting to see if that fixes the problem? BuddyPress Docs previously had a problem with the “post name” setting, and we might at least rule it out.

    @helenef
    – Thanks. I’m not able to reproduce your issue, in the same way as I am unable to reproduce your tag permalink issue. This makes me think that (a) the two issues are likely related, and (b) there is something funky happening between the various components of your installation that is causing an obscure bug somewhere to arise. Ideally, I’d suggest that, on a development version of your site, you start disabling plugins to see if you can narrow down the issue. Alternatively, perhaps you could share a list of the plugins you’re running, and I could take a glance to see if anything jumps out at me as a potential conflict.

Also! This may go without saying, but please make sure that you have not only upgraded Commons In A Box to 1.0.6, but also upgraded all of its constituent plugins (the “just one more thing to set up” message that Commons In A Box gives you).

    Hi Boone,

Thanks for the help, my plugins are all updated, re. permalinks:

    • default – wiki to home page, groups page lost completely
    • day and name wiki – working, groups page lost
    • month and name – woohoo both working
    • numeric – all working
    • post name – wiki working, group pages visible but docs throwing up 404 page

If I change my permalinks is there anything obvious that might be thrown out of sync as a result?

    Hi Boone,

Thanks for stepping in, and for the reminder! Indeed, I had not finished the ‘one more thing’…

So now the wiki and doc pages are displayed correctly with my day and name permalink settings. I also have the group page working re @investa ‘s feedback.

My initial tag URL pathway problem on the wiki seems solved. Though in terms of display I have lots of not so relevant things appearing before the actual list of wiki pages and docs related to the tag, putting it very far away in the scroll! :

    – Recent activity of wiki pages appearing first > Is this useful as the list of wiki pages can be sorted by last edited, author etc…

    – Then both for docs & wiki pages, the filtering box appears with loooooong tag list deployed as default -would be better  with filtering search box as default, especially as filtering by tag does not allow multiple selection of tags…

    Here is an illustration: http://dev.commonsabundance.net/wiki/?bpd_tag=resources

    Hi Helene,

To adjust the items that appear on the wiki page, go to Dashboard >
Appearance > Widgets and look for the wiki page options on the right.

    Hi Matthew, thanks for this.

I am not talking here of the wiki home page appearance though, I am talking about what is displayed when you click on a tag associated to a wiki page or a doc. The widgets meant to be displayed on the wiki homepage have nothing to do here, where I just expect the list wiki pages or docs with a small box to chosed filtering method…

I created a new topic for this: https://commonsinabox.org/groups/help-support/forum/topic/what-is-returned-after-clicking-tags-at-the-bottom-of-wiki-pages-and-docs/#post-3909

Boone and Matthew, I had only updated under the main dashboard > updates and it was only when I went into commons in a box > dashboard that it said there was a new version of the cbox theme. So somehow or other I had updated plugins but not the theme. This may be because I am using a child theme. This update has now resolved my docs and wiki issue under the post name. So I apologise and hope you you haven’t spend too long trying to resolve my non existent problem. Can I just confirm that if I am using a child theme it is only the plugins that will show up as an update in the main wordpress dashboard and I need to keep a separate eye on the cbox dashboard for theme updates?

Hi, I updated from CBOX install 1.0.5.1 to 1.0.6, and still do not have access to View docs.

(I also reinstalled WordPress 3.7.1 just in case for thoroughness.)

And then updated via the “Commons in a Box is almost ready… 5 installed plugins and the CBOX Default theme have updates available. Click on the button below to upgrade” message. Those updates  included  BuddyPress Docs and BuddyPress Wiki Add-on plugin updates. They are all updated and still no Docs view.
    <h3>My Permalinks are >> post name: http://writerstemple.com/sample-post/</h3>
And I did rename “Docs” to “Words” at the beginning of the process of this all.

Thank you for any assistance you may give. My site is not up and ready for use yet, alas, this will get it closer!

Ha! I was wondering if I spoke too soon and didn’t check before I posted — it works!! I did check after installing the updates, yet it seems to have taken an extra few minutes and IT WORKS!!!

Thank you for your updates! Make sure you click on the extra updates with the yellow background that says, “Commons in a Box is almost ready…” and brings you to the Commons in a Box dashboard where you can then update the used plugins!

    Thanks again. 🙂 Happy.
