My members need to keep a diary to record their hours regarding practical experience, demonstration of competence skills and a development plan. I can’t work out a way to interegrate it into the site.

    • I don’t have a multi-site and don’t know if that is something I could do retrospectively or even whether it would work as a solution. I did have a go a long time ago but login bypassed our site for the members personal blog.  (I assume that’s not what’s meant to happen).
    • I thought about renaming groups as diaries but I have too many groups in action and so that’s not really feasible.
    • I have tried ‘my articles’ and whilst that works as a means of allowing members to submit blogs to the feed from a single site, it doesn’t work as a private diary/log.
    • My gut feeling is that there is some workable solution in docs/wiki but I can’t figure out what that is!

If anyone has tried something similar, knows of a plugin or has a flash of inspiration I would appreciate any input.

Hi Sam – One option might be to create a group called “Diaries” and invite all your members to join.  Then instruct each to create a private BP Doc of his or her own – visible/accessible only to the “Doc Author Only”.

You might want to create a public Doc too that gives some brief instructions for the above.  Get the url of that doc and link to it from a home page slide if you want to publicize.

Genius! Thanks Scott, I’m off to give that a try.

Scott is there anyway we could create a formatted document that everyone could use as a template?

BP Docs does not currently have template functionality, but that would be a nice feature.  In your instructions, you could have the template you’d like your members to use and instruct members to cut and paste it into their new private diary pages.
