    I am just starting to use Commons in a Box for a proof of concept for a global community related to healthcare, and have been trying to format my test CBOX install, though am stuck with BuddyPress Docs. I cannot find this, and when I look in the CBOX documentation, I feel I am somehow just missing it.

    Can somebody offer some guidance on where to go to activate this?

    Are you referring to where/how to enable this feature? BuddyPress Docs is enabled on a per-group basis.  It can be enabled/disabled via the group’s Admin tab. See attached screen shot.
