    Hello, there. I’m hoping someone can help me out with creating custom User Roles for specific kinds of users based on their group assignments or departments in Active Directory or LDAP. I’m using the plugin “Active Directory Integration,” which does a great job of adding users to specific Groups in BB/Commons-in-a-box, but I’d like to define custom Roles for each kind of user based on their Active Directory/ LDAP group assignments, perhaps using a plugin like “User Role Editor” or “User Access Manager.”

    I see that CUNY already seems to be assigning specific users to groups like “Faculty,” “Grad Student,” “Staff,” etc. I assume they’re using some kind of centralized authentication, like LDAP or Active Directory. So how can you automatically assign a role to a user based on their LDAP/ AD fields? And I guess while I’m at it, how could I best fill-in profile information for a user based on their LDAP/ AD fields?

    Hi Basem,

    We are not using Active Directory or LDAP for the CUNY Academic Commons;
    roles are chose by users upon sign-up, though we do require an
    institutional email address. I will forward your inquiry to some people I
    know who are using Active Directory with a WP multisite/BuddyPress install
