@albeck I have fixed the display of avatars in IE8 in the pull request mentioned above. There are also fixes for menu backgrounds, because IE8 doesn’t understand gradients. Hope it helps.

@albeck I can confirm this – it’s because no width is set in the stylesheets for div.item-avatar, yet it is floated. If you add the following to one of your stylesheets, it will fix this:
