Hello dears… I posted yesterday on the support page of the plugin (on wordpress.org site) but I will copy and paste what I wrote there since this is also the Help & Support group.
———-
Hi guys
First of all, thank you for this veeery good plugin. It’s just what I need.
I installed the plugin and have been trying it for the last 2 hours. I like it and I’m gonna use it on my site but I have few minor issues that I hope it gets fixed or have answers for it:
1- I cannot change the site favicon or the logo or any image in the theme options, no action happens after selecting an image!
2- Icons don’t show up on the site, letters appear instead. Like: XCancel Friendship, #Public Message, APrivate Message, hFavorite, aMy Friends..also on posts: d admin | L Uncategorized | R November 19, 2012 ..etc. I don’t know if you didn’t use icons or something wrong.
3- The color picker icon in the theme options doesn’t appear but when you click on its location, it opens.
4- Adding “BuddyPress Activity Plus” plugin ruins a little the look of the Activity stream text area, I’m gonna check how to fix this but I was wondering if this plugin could be added to the CBox integrated plugins since it’s needed (with enhancements to the appearance of it).I have few remarks if you don’t mind:
1- The post’s tags take too much space. I think it would be better if the tag appears just as a link without the button look.
2- On the posts’ page, I think it would be better to make the author’s name as a link that takes to his profile.
3- Changing the appearance of the profile tab’s options and makeing it horizontal & on the right side of the page. For example: the Activity options (Personal, Mentions, Favourites, Friends and groups), it would be better to show it horizontally on the right side of the page not vertically on the side bar, just like the buddypress default theme. (It would be better looking and reduce the space taken on the left sidebar)Good work guys, waiting for your updates
November 25, 2012 at 12:44 pm #1070Bowe FrankemaMemberHi there!
Glad you’re liking CBOX! I’ll try and cover your questions/remarks one by one:
1: What browser are you on? and which version of WordPress? You need to be on 3.4 at the least!
2: Are you using any kind of CDN plugin? Do you have a live example of your site so I can take a look?
3: It sounds like this is also an browser issue.. Are you on a really old version of IE?
4: I’ll look into maybe adding some additional CSS for the CBOX Theme to make this look prettier. Ideally the plugin developer would not add so much additional styling, but sometimes that’s not an option.1: I see what you mean. Do you have any ideas on how to handle the tags?
2: Currently the author box at the bottom links to the author page. We need to assume that in multisite sites the link should point to the posts by that user on their profile on the BuddyPress site. So I don’t think this is a good idea to change
3: We’ve made a very deliberate decision to make the navigation vertical. We think it’s a better user experience to have sitewide navigation horizontal (the menus) and profile/page navigation vertical. This also solves a problem when site admins add additional plugins which add new top level navigation items. You can never run out of space and break your layout. Maybe in the future we can look at ways to let a site admin the type of navigation that should be used (horizontal or vertical) but we’re not at that point yet!Hope this answers most of your questions!
November 25, 2012 at 2:42 pm #1071Matthew K GoldModerator/Thanks for checking out CBOX! Just wanted to add that if you really disagree strongly with the way we’ve handled something (like the vertical profile menu) in the default theme, you can always create a child theme to set things up exactly as you’d like. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t give us feedback on the default theme — I just want to make sure you know that you have that option available to you.
November 25, 2012 at 2:59 pm #1072Kathy TarochioneParticipantI know it’s probably in front of my face, but can you help with how to set up the Slider on the homepage.
November 25, 2012 at 3:21 pm #1073Scott VothKeymasterHi Kathy – Welcome to CBOX! To set up the slider, you’ll need to first add some slides. Go to your dashboard and click on Site Features. There you can enter the individual slides. The title and the content you enter will be displayed in the overlay. Click on add an image, find your image, and then be sure to set it as a featured image. You’ll need to do this for each of the slides you want in your slideshow.
Please note that there is currently an issue with the slider not “sliding” – i.e. it just displays the first image. This will be fixed in the next CBOX maintenance release – due out in a day or two.
Let us know if you have any more questions. The Slider Options are controlled in the Appearance>>CBOX Theme Options – under HomePage.
November 25, 2012 at 3:51 pm #1075Kathy TarochioneParticipantOMG, I just updated the BuddyPress and my whole site crashed. Here is the error message. Help!! Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in /home/content/71/9796971/html/harrisoninsiders/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 777
Fatal error: Class ’BP_Group_Extension’ not found in /home/content/71/9796971/html/harrisoninsiders/wp-content/plugins/external-group-blogs/bp-groups-externalblogs.php on line 4
Now I can’t get into the site at all to edit. HELP!!
November 25, 2012 at 4:05 pm #1077Scott VothKeymasterHi Kathy – can you describe a little more what you did prior to this happening? In the meantime, I will write up a ticket and have the developers look into the error trace.
November 25, 2012 at 4:12 pm #1078Kathy TarochioneParticipantthe website is http://www.harrisoninsiders.com
I was updating BuddyPress. It showed 2 “must haves” I went into those and clicked “Save Changes.” That’s when the error occurred and the site crashed.
November 25, 2012 at 4:20 pm #1079Kathy TarochioneParticipantGot a little worried. I have the Executive Committee looking at this today and already I screwed it up. Feel stupid.
November 25, 2012 at 4:21 pm #1080Kathy TarochioneParticipantI’m into my FTP File Manager now to see if I can see anything. I don’t know what I’m looking for.
November 25, 2012 at 4:51 pm #1083Boone GorgesKeymasterKathy – Can you please give more detail about
> I was updating BuddyPress. It showed 2 “must haves” I went into those and clicked “Save Changes.”
Can you explain exactly where you saw ‘2 “must haves”‘? What is a “must have”? Where did you see the Save Changes button? If you have specific URLs, it would be very helpful.
November 25, 2012 at 4:55 pm #1084Kathy TarochioneParticipantOh boy, I have no idea. I can’t get into the site again to duplicate it. I was in BuddyPress options I guess. there were 10 listed as “Active” and 2 listed as “Must Haves.” One of the must haves had to do with Community. I clicked on the Must Have’s and it listed 2 items related to BuddyPress. Don’t know what else to say. I’m totally locked out so I can’t retrace my steps. Thought I could figure it out through FTP, but I don’t know what I’m looking for.
November 25, 2012 at 4:59 pm #1086Kathy TarochioneParticipantBoy, is this a mess.
November 25, 2012 at 5:02 pm #1087Boone GorgesKeymasterAh, thanks for the clarification.
Sounds like you probably disabled Groups within the BuddyPress settings. That’s generally OK to do, but apparently the External Group Blogs plugin isn’t properly set up to handle this kind of configuration change. We’ll fix that in our next release.
In the meantime, you can fix the issue via FTP by navigating to wp-content/plugins and deleting the external-group-blogs folder.
November 25, 2012 at 5:02 pm #1088Kathy TarochioneParticipantOK, I was in Step 4 on this page. https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/installation. On the top of the page on the left side it shows the Active, Inactive and Must Haves. Hope this helps. I had 10 Active, no Inactive and 2 Must Have’s listed. When I went into the Must Have’s it asked to Save it. So I did and the entire website crashed.
