The community I am developing my CBOX install for wants the ability to share urls and other links with one another. Can somebody suggest a simple way to enable this functionality? I know if can be done in groups and the like, but I think my participants want a place for some grouped lists of links (such as for resources, translation services, etc.).
Thank you!
Hi Jeff – CBOX has BP Docs which is kind of like a private wiki for groups (https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/plugins/buddypress-docs). It also supports a Site wide wiki (https://commonsinabox.org/documentation/cbox-wiki). Those might help you share and organize resources. They include notification functionality that can be configured by member.
Hey Jeff,
I think this is exactly what you are looking for: http://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-links/
This is not my plugin and I am not affiliated with the author of it but I have used it multiple times successfully and it does what you described and it is kept updated regularly.
Best Regards,
Elisha
A belated thank you for these replies! This project on my end was put on hold, though it is now up and moving forward again.
I am a little unclear about adding elements of BuddyPress into this install due to conflict issues; is this a big concern? Thank you.
Scott, I installed BuddyPress Docs though cannot seem to get them to appear anyplace; insights perhaps on what I may be doing incorrectly? Thank you!
Hi Jeff- BuddyPress Docs is by default activated for CBOX sites. Unlike its almost twin, but more social cousin, “BuddyPress Docs Wiki,” it can only be seen within a particular group. Is it possible that you have disabled BP Docs on the group level? Maybe go to a specific group (as the admin of that group), and go to Admin. There are a bunch of options listed horizontally in the header. Click on “Docs” and make sure the checkbox is checked to enable. (See attached image.) BuddyPress Documents are called Docs in the sidebar – so that might also throw you off.
Hope this helps.
Sorry – here is the screenshot.
Ahh, that did the trick; thanks!
Another perhaps related question. How can I get the links on the left (Docus, Members, etc.) to appear as images and not as a text list of links?
Thank you again.
