Thanks Scott – That’s what I thought just wanted to mention Wordfence
with Commons in a Box to see if there were any known problems. The host
(WPMU-Host.com) that I use recommended Wordfence after an incident on
one of my sites (Not CBox site but wordpress). Seems to work well and
has alerted me to attempts to crack my sites. – Louis

Perhaps this is the right place to inquire about Common in a Box updates.

I use Wordfence on all my sites and on jafanet.net Wordfence tells me that “BuddyPress” (1.9.2 ->2.0), “BuddyPress Docs (1.5.6 -> 1.7.0) and Invite Anyone (1.0.26 -> 1.2) are critical updates.  I can’t figure out how to update them, so I assume that is a Commons in a Box task.  What’s up with this?  So I did a Wordfence scan and the problems cleared.  Strange?

Scott – Taking Boone’s advice I have uninstalled Commons  in a Box and all of its components.  Then, re-installed Commons in a Box and all its components.  Still on WP 3.8.  That seemed to fix everything.

I suppose that the Commons in a Box plugin will update the plugins that it supervises.  I believe that Boone is a principal in Buddypress.  I watch a video of him introducing BP 1.8. – Louis

Scott – The Modification of wp-config seems to be the best solution for the “Warnings” problem (first issue).  I am more than reluctant to modify anything in wp-includes and wp-admin.  And, it works.  This issue seems to be resolved.  What I did:

Added the following to wp-config.php at the end of the file above “/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */”

/*Added for CBox errors*/
ini_set( ‘display_errors’, ‘Off’ );
ini_set( ‘error_reporting’, E_NONE );

I will create another topic for the “notifications” page problem.

Scott thanks for that.  It seems to me that the plugin CBox is blocking the updating of plugin status display in the admin plugin menu when it is active.  The plugins supervised by it update fine.  This only seems to affect activation.  The plugin activate but the warning appears rather than the status display.  I must use the back arrow and refresh to see the display.

Also the “Notifications” page is odd.  However I get there (admin-bar widget or menu-selection) it displays what would be a full page in the right 3/4 of the page and displays no content, just the left widgets area.
