    Hi everyone,

My name is Jonathan Reeve. I’m doing some freelance bugfixing and developing for the Modern Language Association. We use CBOX for the site MLA Commons, in conjunction with a few custom plugins. The theme we use is a custom child theme of the CBOX theme that I’m currently working on rennovating. I’ll be submitting pull requests to CBOX/Buddypress/bbPress on Github if I make changes to a CBOX element that I think will benefit the community.

So far I’ve had a lot of fun working with CBOX and its constituent parts, but there have been a lot of challenges. If anyone has any suggestions for CBOX development resources beyond what is already documented, do let me know. For instance, I’d love to know whether there is an IRC channel for CBOX developers.

    Excited to join the community!

Hi Jonathan – Welcome to the site!

What you see in the Documentation section of this site is all that we’ve got prepared for Commons In A Box in particular. But many of the issues you may be interested in are probably covered by some of the parent software docs, like BuddyPress http://codex.buddypress.org.

As for IRC – I’ve just jumped into #commons-in-a-box on Freenode, and will plan to idle there, if you or anyone else wants to stop by to say hello!

CBOX has its roots in the CUNY Academic Commons, which in turn was made possible through funding from The City University of New York itself.
