I see what you mean – I just tried it myself and got the same results.  I also tried adjusting with CSS and didn’t have much luck with that either.  I guess to accomplish this you would need to make a child theme and customized it to your design.

It looks from the link that your homepage is not using the correct template.  Can you go to that page and select the “Homepage template.”  Then you should be able to use all the homepage widgets.

Is it possible you are not using the correct template?  Those widgets are only available when using the “Homepage template.”
