Sounds like a bug with bbPress.
For now, can you post on the frontend until this issue is resolved.
January 9, 2013 at 1:11 pm #1651RayKeymasterI’ve read one other report about this:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-90Can you try the method listed there and report back?
January 9, 2013 at 1:09 pm #1650RayKeymasterYou should be able to use any WordPress LDAP plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/ldapLet us know which one you use and if you encounter any conflicts with BuddyPress.
January 9, 2013 at 1:08 pm #1649RayKeymasterHi,
Copy and paste
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-docs-wiki/wiki-home.php
into your theme’s directory.eg.
/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/docs/wiki-home.php
Then modify this template to suit your theme.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
January 9, 2013 at 1:03 pm #1648RayKeymasterGood call, Eugene.
This can be accomplished with a code snippet.
Try this code snippet:
http://pastebin.com/Ziyy8xMLIf you don’t have a file called /wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php, please create it:
http://codex.buddypress.org/developer/customizing/bp-custom-php/#so-what-is-itThen, paste in the code snippet above and see if that solves your problem.
@cbox_admin, what do you think about putting an option on the CBOX Settings admin page to block External RSS feeds from being recorded by the Group Email Subscription plugin?
January 7, 2013 at 4:19 pm #1636RayKeymasterHi Charise,
I can’t duplicate this in Firefox and Chrome. What browser are you using?
What happens when you toggle the dropdown filter a few times? It could also be a cookie issue. Make sure your browser can accept cookies.
January 7, 2013 at 4:08 pm #1635RayKeymasterHi theBadger,
Glad you figured this out!
You’re correct that the CBOX demo site is running an older version of CBOX.
@cbox_admin, another ping! 🙂January 7, 2013 at 4:05 pm #1634RayKeymasterHi Alison,
I’ve experienced the same problem. I have posted a bug report here:
https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cbox-theme/issues/110Thanks for posting!
January 5, 2013 at 11:55 pm #1618RayKeymasterHi Alan,
I’ve narrowed this down to an issue with bbPress and how it interacts with WordPress’ site privacy setting.
You had your site set to disallow search engines from indexing your site. (View the “Reading Settings” page from the WP admin dashboard for this setting.)
bbPress also uses this option to determine if the forum item can be recorded into the BuddyPress activity stream. Since you disallowed search engines from indexing on your site, no forum-related activity was ever recorded. And since the Group Email Subscription plugin relies on forum posts to be recorded into the BuddyPress activity stream, no subscription emails could ever be sent.
In the meantime, if you allow search engines to index your site, you’ll be able to get group emails for forum content working again.
I think this is a bbPress bug; I’ve just filed a ticket about this.
January 4, 2013 at 4:18 pm #1615RayKeymasterHi Mike,
This is a bbPress bug. I’ve just submitted a bug report here:
http://bbpress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/2147Thanks for reporting!
January 4, 2013 at 3:44 pm #1614RayKeymasterHi Mike,
This sounds more like an issue with WordPress than with BuddyPress or CBOX.
On single site, the “Add New User” screen looks like this:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Users_Add_New_ScreenDid you click on the “Send Password” checkbox when you were creating your user? If so, the new user should receive a generic “Your username and password” email with the site link.
On multisite, the “Add New User” screen looks like this:
http://i.imgur.com/kPlgT.pngIf you fill out this form, the new user gets the same email as described above.
I just tested this in both single and multisite and I was able to verify this.
January 4, 2013 at 2:50 pm #1606RayKeymasterHi Alan,
Your forum setup looks correct. I’ve just emailed you so I can try and debug this issue faster.
Hope we’ll get to the bottom of the problem!
January 4, 2013 at 2:43 pm #1605RayKeymasterCharise and Eugene, are you getting double notifications on commonsinabox.org only? If so, this site hasn’t been updated yet. Ping @cbox_admin 🙂
Alan, sorry for not replying, I’m just getting caught up to speed with things since the holidays. I will reply to your initial forum thread now.
December 26, 2012 at 3:20 pm #1508RayKeymasterHi Gary,
Everything you listed are applicable to BuddyPress. I’ll briefly go over your points below:
(1) allow the imbedding of media in “Group>Forum” posts as can be done in regular posts?
You have a few options here. You can type in manual HTML as Scott stated or you can look into finding a bbPress plugin that handles uploads like GD bbPress Attachments.
(2) allow the posting of a post within Groups as opposed to restricting the posting to just “updates”. This would also allow the inclusion of media?
(3) allow individuals to post regular posts under their profile, as opposed to simply updates? (same reason)
Activity updates are meant to be simplistic like Facebook and Twitter. However, you are able to embed links to popular media sites like YouTube by simply pasting the URL on its own line.
For more info, check out this article:
http://codex.wordpress.org/EmbedsIt applies to BuddyPress as well.
However, if you want to embed media by uploading, you can look into some BuddyPress plugins (such as BP Media, BP Gallery, BP Activity Plus), however please note that we will not be offering 3rd-party support for them as we have not vetted these plugins for inclusion into CBOX.
December 26, 2012 at 3:10 pm #1507RayKeymasterHi Gary,
Login to the WP dashboard, click on the “Pages” tab.
Check to make sure you don’t have duplicate “Register” pages. The other thing I can think of is the BuddyPress Login Widget might be using the wrong code.
Lastly, to rename the registration page slug, navigate to the “Pages” tab, find the “Register” page and then edit the page slug to whatever you want.
