I see what you mean with the admin bar.  On the CUNY Academic Commons, we make the labels a little clearer.  Can you try installing a plugin called “Adminimize” – https://wordpress.org/plugins/adminimize/

It gets good reviews from our dev team, and I think it will allow you to customize your admin bar as needed.

Wordfence seems like a nice plugin – I am not familiar at all with it – maybe someone else on this forum is?

It seems like it looks for important plugin updates and takes care of them, which maybe interferes with CBOX’s more conservative/careful plugin management?
