If you create a page (called say “hello”) can you see it at ‘http://yoursite/hello/’ or does it default to something like ‘http://yoursite/?p=22’ instead? I think you can use the built-in privacy options of WordPress to make the site only visible to logged in users.  You can use private (or hidden) groups to further hide content from logged in users.

tl;dr Your best bet is to set define( 'INFINITY_DEV_MODE', true ) in wp-config.php, which should solve the problem.
