I have started a learning community of paying subscribers using CBOX. However, I have not really developed a robust discussion environment. The site is mostly used for members to access my lectures and other content. Forums haven’t quite caught on yet.

Are there best practices for developing a community within CBOX?

    Thanks.

We do not have such a guide for best practices on the commonsinabox.org site.

It’s up to you to engage your community and to foster discussion. We only provide the tools! 🙂

Perhaps you can post a question in your forums once a day or week depending on how large your user base is and to encourage your users to reply to these questions?

CBOX has its roots in the CUNY Academic Commons, which in turn was made possible through funding from The City University of New York itself.
